Commerce Ministry to hold ‘Blue Flag’ low cost food, product fair

BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) -- The Commerce Ministry plans to temporarily launch the fair to offer low-cost comsumer products and food during the upcoming New Year’s festival in an attempt to cushion high cost of living of people living in the Thai capital. Boonyarit Kallayanamit, the Director General of the Ministry's Internal Trade Department said more than 100 grocery stores which participated in the "Blue Flag discount store" scheme would offer goods whose prices stand at between 20-40 per cent cheaper than the market. The low cost food shops under the ministry's Noo Nid food scheme will be gathered and sell food at between 30-45 baht a plate to the people. He said the food trucks will also come together to sell the variety of cuisines at the fair. The director said the promising programme is still being under discussions between the department officials and shop owners. Also, the department will also discussed with two sport stadiums in Bangkok where the fair will be held, tentatively around the last week of December, Mr Boonyarit added. (END)
