Thai exports hit record high in Oct
BANGKOK, Nov 22 (TNA) - Thai export growth in Oct expanded 13.1 per cent, the highest growth in six years, raising the 10-month growth to 9.7 per cent, according to the Commerce Ministry.
The growth for the eighth consecutive month in Oct were worth USD20 billion. The growth is seen in all markets with 28.9 per cent in Europe, 31.9 per cent in South Asia and 17.2 per cent in China, said Pimchanok Wonkorporn, director-general of the Trade Policy and Strategy Bureau.
Exports of main commodities such as tapioca products, rubber and fresh and processes chicken increased in both volume and value.
The director-general said she was confident that rice exports for the whole year would definitely surpass 10-11 million tonnes after the country has already exported nine million tonnes of rice from Jan to Oct.
Meanwhile, imports in Oct were valued at USD 19.8 billion, up 13.5 per cent. However, Thailand enjoyed trade surplus of USD214 million in Oct and USD12.4 billion in the past ten months of this year. (TNA)
