CSR Excellence Awards for US companies in Thailand

BANGKOK, Nov 22 (TNA) - The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) presented the 11th CSR Excellence (ACE) Awards to Western Digital, Dow Chemical and IBM. The award presentation was held on Tuesday at the Shangri-la Hotel in Bangkok to honour the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes of AMCHAM’s member companies. US ambassador to Thailand Glyn Davies, Thai Science and Technology Minister Atchaka Sibunruang and AMCHAM President of American Chamber of Commerce Jeffrey Nygaard presented the awards to selected companies. More than 70 companies applied for the awards and 60 companies met the qualification standards for recognition. Excellence in Partnership Award was given to Western Digital, which promotes partnerships that bring US knowledge and expertise to Thailand. Dow Chemical won Excellence in Promoting Thailand 4.0 Award for its CSR programme that supports the Thai government’s efforts under the Thailand 4.0 strategy. Excellence in CSR Projects Award was presented to IBM. The US ambassador said the award presentation demonstrate close Thai- US relation in private sector level and its contributions to Thai society as the two countries will celebrate 200 years of relations in the people level next year. He said the US wants to cooperate with Thailand to achieve the 4.0 strategy. US companies transfer knowledge and technology to assist Thailand to move forward to the full digital society. (TNA)
