Thai exports on the rise
BANGKOK, November 28 (TNA) - The Ministry of Commerce reports that Thai exports during the first 10 months of this year grew by 9.7 per cent year-on-year and has remained
on the rise.
Pimchanok Vonkorpon, Director-General of the ministry's Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO), told journalists of the update on Tuesday, reasoning that the recovering world economy, the rising oil prices and, most importantly, high potential and competitive Thai products have boosted Thai exports so far this year.
Pimchanok pointed out that Thai exports have, thus, been the second top in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), after Singapore, in 2017 so far and have kept growing towards the end of the year.
Besides, a wide range of different categories of Thai products have been satisfactorily shipped to overseas markets this year, seen by 43 out of a total of top 50 items of Thai goods have been increasingly purchased by trading partners, together with the rising exports of Thai higher technological products.
The TPSO chief acknowledged if exports of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) were adjusted to be on the same base as Thailand in 2016, goods shipments to overseas markets of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines during the first nine months of this year expanded by 8.9 per cent, 5.9 per cent, 4.8 per cent and 7.6 per cent year-on-year respectively, while Thai exports during the same period expanded by 9.3 per cent year-on-year.
