HM King receives National Audit Office report

Manama, Nov. 28 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today at Al-Safriya Palace received National Audit Office (NAO) President Hassan bin Khalifa Al-Jalahma who presented the NAO Financial and Administrative Report for the fiscal year 2016/2017. HM the King lauded the NAO President and staff's dedicated efforts in protecting public money and achieving the highest levels of credibility, independency and transparency. HM the King stressed the importance of protecting public funds, monitoring spending and promoting rationalized expenditure, commending the NAO's role in taking on its duties fully, which contributes to enhancing the performance of ministries and state institutions. In a his statement following the meeting, Al-Jalahma expressed pride in submitting to HM the King the 2016-2017 report, as per Article 19 of the NAO law. He said the data reflects the NAO's commitment to implement the state's policy aimed at rationalizing expenditure, reducing public spending, contributing to raising efficiency of government agencies covered by the NAO supervision, improving the quality of their services and work on the development of financial and accounting systems in force. He said the NAO has made tangible progress during the past years thanks to the royal support and determination to provide the NAO with the right atmosphere of independence and freedom at work, which assist in performing its duties professionally and efficiently. He said he had the honour to listen to the royal directives and observations on the NAO report and its regulatory role in protecting public money and maintaining the highest degrees of credibility, independence and transparency.
