Bahrain attends Arab-EU meeting

Brussels, Nov. 28 (BNA): Bahrain's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, participated in the sixth meeting of the Permanent Delegates with the Ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union, held at the European Union headquarters in Brussels. On the sidelines of the sixth meeting, other meetings of working groups on cooperation between the League of Arab States and the European Union were also held. The ambassadors also held constructive discussions on the current regional challenges facing the Arab and European world, with a special focus on the Palestinian issue and ways to push the peace process forward, developments in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq, as well as combating terrorism, irregular migration, refugees and displaced persons, and Iran, recognizing the importance of participating in efforts to address the common political, economic, social and security challenges that threaten the stability of their common region. They also welcomed the strengthening of the Euro-Arab partnership as an appropriate regional response. Shaikh Rashid noted that the ambassadors affirmed the statement made at the last Euro-Arab Ministerial Meeting (Cairo 2016) on the organization of an Arab-European summit. They also highlighted the important role of the Arab ambassadors in Brussels in promoting the Arab-European partnership and ways to face common challenges.
