Villager killed by wild elephant
TAK, Nov 30 (TNA) - A man was stomped to death by a wild elephant while he and a friend were collecting forest products near a village in Tak province on Wednesday.
The police and rescue workers walked about three hours into the forest in Tha Song Yang district to retrieve the body of Lola Wiengpana, 51 who was attacked by the wild elephant. His broken body was sent for an autopsy at hospital before it was returned to his relatives for a religious rite.
According to an investigation, Arpue Khirinoi, 42 the survivor said he and his friend were foraging for food in the forest as usual, suddenly, the wild elephant ran out and attacked Lola by its trunk and feet several times without a warning. He said he could not help his friend and fled immediately. He informed the village head to recover the body.
After the incident, villagers are frightened and dare not go to collect wild produce in the forest for fear of the elephant attack. (TNA)
