Anti-corruption day set for Dec 9
BANGKOK, Dec 4 (TNA) -- The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will organise its anti-corruption day activities on Dec 9 to announce its serious and efficient anti-corruption operations.
The event was set at the IMPACT convention centre in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi province, from 8.30am to 3.pm. Its theme is “Zero Tolerance” meaning that Thai people will not tolerate corruption.
National Anti-Corruption Commissioner Suwanna Suwannajuta said Thailand signed the United Nations Convention against Corruption on Dec 9, 2003, and Dec 9 was declared the International Anti-Corruption Day. Thailand planned anti-corruption activities on that day to emphasise its intention to efficiently fight against corruption.
“Late this year the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) will be evaluated. I believe that the index will improve as Thailand has its anti-corruption strategy to be implemented from 2017 to 2021. Thailand intends to raise its score by 50%. If an election is organised, the CPI will improve,” Ms Suwanna said. (TNA)
