Moscow is ready to facilitate the resumption of talks on the Palestine-Israel issue and insists that the two-state solution be implemented, Deputy Director of the Middle East Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Rudakov said during debates dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s visit to Israel. "Russia is ready for close cooperation with the conflicting parties and other countries, particularly with the Quartet of international mediators (Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union) in order to facilitate the resumption of negotiations on the Palestine-Israel issue," he said. "Russia’s Foreign Ministry emphasizes the importance of the two-state solution, which it believes to have no alternative, taking into account the dangerous impasse concerning the Palestine-Israel settlement," the diplomat added. Rudakov also pointed to the importance of the Palestinian issue "against the background of the ongoing turbulence in the Middle East and a number of unresolved regional conflicts."
