Anti-human trafficking inflight video clips unveiled

BANGKOK, Dec 7 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security launched the anti-human trafficking video clips on airplanes and airport rail link stations as part of its effort to fight human trafficking, related to sex tourism. Minister of Social Development and Human Security General Anantaporn Kanjanarat and Transport Minister Arkom Termpithayapaisit told a press conference at Suvarnabhumi Airport today about the launch of the short inflight video on anti-human trafficking. The public campaign is aimed at raising awareness and preventing sexual exploitation in tourism, which is linked to the transnational human trafficking, Gen Anantaporn said. Tourists are urged to refrain from any involvement in child prostitution and to alert the police if they witness any related crime. Human trafficking suppression and prevention is declared as the national agency by the Thai government in 2015, he added. The minister also said one and two-minute inflight video on human trafficking problems is the first of its kind in Thailand. The video clips display mock scenarios of sexual exploitation and prostitution in connection with tourism. Sex buyers as violators of human trafficking are subject to punishment, which is also added in the video to inform tourists. Subtitles are available in three languages, Chinese, Japanese and English. Besides displaying on planes and airport rail link stations, it will be also shown at the airport’s terminals and airport buses. General public are also urged to cooperate in fighting all forms of human trafficking. If they witness any wrongdoing, they can give a tip-off via the hotline 1300 around the clock, the minister said. (TNA)
