MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS GEORGIAN PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION IN BAKU
Baku, February 24 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis) Ogtay
Asadov met Monday with vice-speaker of the Georgian parliament Pridon Todua and his
accompanying delegation.
Asadov said the fact that the two countries` relationship had elevated to the level
of a strategic partnership is a vivid evidence of development of bilateral ties.
According to him, meetings of the two countries` presidents and reciprocal visits by
government delegations contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation even more.
Asadov noted that the two countries` parliaments play a great role in expanding
bilateral relations, as well. He also stressed the importance of parliamentarians`
reciprocal visits in terms of exchange of experience and information.
Asadov also pointed out that settlement of existing conflicts and establishment of
peace would make a significant contribution to the region`s future development.
Pridon Todua, in turn, said Azerbaijan has always stood by Georgia in hard times,
and thanked President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for this.
The sides also exchanged views on developing interparliamentary ties, ways of
settling regional conflicts, prospects for economic, humanitarian and cultural
cooperation and other issues.
Present the meeting were vice-speaker of Milli Majlis Valeh Alasgarov, head of
working group on Azerbaijan-Georgia interparliamentary ties Ganira Pashayeva,
Azerbaijani ambassador in Tbilisi Namig Aliyev and Georgian ambassador in Baku
Nikoloz Natbiladze.
