PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES “SAFE CITY” COMPUTER MANAGEMENT CENTER

Baku, 24 February (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the
computer management center “Safe city” here today.
The center will give an opportunity to continuously carry out video surveillance in
order to ensure that the law is observed, and respond quickly to the unlawful acts
and emergency situations. In the initial stage, 555 video cameras were installed in
200 places in the capital Baku. The equipment made in Japan, Belgium and US was
installed by Turkish “Ekin” Company. Some 10 mln AZN was allotted to implement the
“Safe city” project.
About 4 thousand cameras are scheduled to be installed in Baku. The citizens can
dial a 102 number to report to the Ministry of Internal Affairs about any law
violations.
“The safe city” is one of the most modern and useful projects as part of the “State
Program to improve activity of the law-enforcement bodies in the Republic of
Azerbaijan” signed by President Ilham Aliyev on June 30, 2004.
