Treasury Dpt to issue new baht coins

BANGKOK, Dec 17 (TNA) - The Treasury Department will propose to the cabinet this Tuesday on its plan to issue new coins, which bears the portrait of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Treasury Department director-general, Patchara Anuntasilpa said His Majesty the King has already given the Royal approval for the designs of the coins and allowed the department to mint the new nine types of coins, bearing his portrait and the royal initial emblem. After being approved by the cabinet, the new coins will be put into circulation soon. Meanwhile, the department viewed that there are signs that it would mint less coins in the future due to the E-Payment policy to promote the cashless society. (TNA)
