Road safety campaigns for New Year holidays

BANGKOK, Dec 22 (TNA) -- The Road Safety Centre Thailand prepares road safety measures to be implemented from Dec 28 to Jan 3 to promote public safety during the New Year festival and trips during the period. As the chairman of Centre, Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda said traffic accidents usually rose during the New Year festival, so road safety measures were necessary. Gen Anupong said the measures for the seven days of traffic accident risks include the strict enforcement of traffic rules, the reduction of risk factors on roads, public relations campaigns to raise awareness of road safety, harsher punishment against traffic rule violators, effective alcohol control, road checkpoints, rest areas and warning signs.
