Two economic ministries to jointly solve farmers’ problems

NONTHABURI, Dec 22 (TNA) – The Commerce Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives integrate their mechanisms to manage farm products and promote market-led agriculture production. Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Grisada Boonrach and other executives of the two ministries held a workshop to formulate plans for regional economic development. In the meeting, provincial commerce and agriculture officials received policies to cooperate with one another to effectively serve farmers and operators nationwide. The movement complies with the policy of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for governmental organisations to integrate their operations to develop the Thai agricultural sector to meet international standard. The development includes efforts to promote market-led agriculture production for the stability of farm products. Work integration between the two ministries will cover the exchange of information on production and markets for the formulation of good plans for specific farm products. Small-scaled farmers will be briefed on market demand, predictions and possible risks of their products. (TNA)
