PM to attend the Lanchang Mekong cooperation Summit
BANGKOK, Jan 4 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the 2nd Lanchang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Summit that will take place in Phnom Penh on Jan 20.
Col Athisit Chainuwat, an assistant to the government spokesman said that the summit will endorse two documents.
The first one is the five-year plan of action (2018-2022) that will serve as an LMC guiding document for cooperation in five key priority areas including cross-border economy, connectivity, water resources, production capacity and agriculture and poverty reduction.
The other document is the Phnom Penh Declaration to express member countries’ political wills to boost cooperation in politics, economy, security and social and cultural exchange.
The MLC was founded to foster sustainable development, narrow the development gaps among the member states, and strengthen the ASEAN Community.
In the past couple of years, the Mekong-Lanchang Cooperation has emphasized real progress by supporting existing areas of cooperation and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Six member countries are China, Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. (TNA)
