KBANK warns business operators of fluctuating baht

BANGKOK, Jan 5 (TNA) -- Kasikorn Research Centre of Kasikornbank has warned business operators to closely monitor factors influencing the value of baht including the current account surplus of Thailand. The Centre said that baht was the strongest in three years and three months on the first working day of 2018 at 32.22 baht against a US dollar due to capital inflows and Thai economic fundamentals and recovery. It said that factors influencing the baht value were not only the policy rate of the US that could be higher that the Thai rate but also the current account surplus of Thailand as well as American and international political situations. The research centre recommended operators manage risks with forward contracts and saving accounts in other countries. It expected baht fluctuation would continue from last year to this year. (TNA)
