Ministries ordered to solve poverty problem

BANGKOK, Jan 6 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered every ministry to find measures to build equality in the society in an attempt to solve poverty problem in Thailand. Gen Prayut said on Friday after chairing a meeting of the heads of the government agencies at the Ministry of Justice that the major issue discussed at the meeting was hos to find measures to resolve poverty problem. The premier said he had assigned Methini Thepmani, Secretary-General of Office of the Civil Service Commission, and Wiisit Wisitsoraat, Permanent Secretary for Justice, to provide more details on the issue. Ms Methini said later that the prime minister ordered every ministry to complete works as soon as possible while the performance assessment of the heads of the government agencies would be held during second quarter this year. She said the average income to solve the poverty must be above 2,660 baht monthly, set by the government-run Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board. Each ministry must submit plans to resolve poverty problem within three months from now, she said, adding that government agencies must also inform the public their work accomplishments on regular basis.
