BAAC helps further developing rural communities

BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) - The state-run Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) will this year develop 19 more communities nationwide in an attempt to further help boost income of the rural poor. BAAC president, Apirom Sukprasert said that last year, the bank successfully developed 16 communities in rural area. It has strengthened local communities by adopting the self-sufficiency economy, a philosophy initiated by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The success of the programme helped farmers cut production costs, produce safe food. Other activities have been designed to increase their income this year. The BAAC will select potential villages to develop ecotourism such as providing funds for building facilities for tourists. (TNA)
