Former PM Yingluck in London since Sept last year: Thai FM

BANGKOK, Jan 9 (TNA) – Former prime minister, Yingluck Shinawatra has stayed in England since September last year but now, she is likely to hold a passport of another country as her Thai passport has already expired, said foreign minister Don Pramudwinai. After her photos appear on social media, Mr Don said he did not have exact information about her whereabouts but he learned from his British counterpart that Ms Yingluck had stayed in London. He asserted that the issue does not affect relations between the two countries and it is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to submit a request to the British government to reject her application for political asylum. Ms Yingluck fled Thailand in late August last year before the Supreme Court’s ruling on her negligence case, related to the rice-pledging scheme during her administration. Her four Thai passports were revoked, including two diplomatic passports. (TNA)
