44 Thais banned from entering other countries in Dec

BANGKOK, Jan 10 (TNA) – In December, 44 Thai people were banned from entering other countries on suspicion of planning to work illegally in those countries, according to the Department of Employment. The figure in December is up 46.67 per cent from the previous month when 30 people were banned from entering other countries. Most Thai people were rejected by South Korea, followed by Bahrain, Japan, Czech Republic, Singapore and Qatar. Employment Department chief Anurak Tossarat said that in December alone, 5,732 people travelled to work or to undergo training abroad. Out of this number, most workers or 2,492 went to Taiwan, followed by 368 to South Korea and 335 to Japan and 113 to Hong Kong, respectively. Mr Anurak warned job seekers to be cautious about overseas job offers on social media as they could be lured to work illegally or could be deceived to pay for travel and employment procedures while there are no jobs available for them. To work abroad, prospects need to apply for work permits and working contracts must be certified by the government agencies of the two countries, he said reiterating that tourist visas can be used to work in other countries. They should check with the department of employment first if an individual or a job agent legally operate or not to avoid losing their money in job fraud. (TNA)
