BMA deputy governor Chakkaphan Phiewngam said that the Bangkok Metropolitan Flood Control Centre reports that torrential rain hit the capital since early morning.
The heaviest rainfall is recorded at 133 millimetres in Nong Chok district while the capital’s facilities have capacity to deal with accumulated rain of about 60 milimetres.
Six mains streets have been submerged under the water level of 15-20 centimtres, including Pattanakarn, Lat Phrao, Sukhumvit, Srinkarin, Ramkhamhaeng and Suwinthawong.
The situation started to return to normal in some areas and flood mostly remains in alleys.
According to the office of Basic Education Commission, torrential rain and flooding forces one school, Rachawinit Bangkaew to close. (TNA)
