About 2.8 billion baht will be spent on Children’s Day

BANGKOK, Jan 12 (TNA) -- People are likely to spend about 2.8 billion baht on the National Children’s Day this Saturday and children’s most wanted presents are mobile phones, followed by computers, according to University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC). Thanawat Phonwichai, UTCC’s economic and business forecasting director, said that the university found from its survey that the spending would rise by 2.7% from the previous Children’s Day and 57% of children had no special activities on the special day because their parents would be occupied with work. Some children said they were too old for such special activities or Children’s Day venues were too crowded or too far. Some children said they would have to go to tuition schools and some children said they did not have enough money to join a special activity. For those who will have special activities, parents will bring them to venues of special events or to department stores where they will buy presents. Their parents will spend about 900-2,300 baht on the Children’s Day. The most favourite presents for children are mobile phones, followed by computers. Their most favourite careers in the future are doctors, actors, singers, teachers and news presenters. Many children also said their parents should have more time with them and quit alcohol and gambling.(TNA)
