Laos renews lease of APSTAR-V satellite with China

(KPL) Laos signed a contract with China to renew the lease of APSTAR-V satellite of China for broadcasting its radio and television programmes.
The APSTAR-V transponder utilization agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, Bosengkham Vongdala when he was in Hong Kong on a five-day visit, 16 to 20 February.
During this five-day visit, the Lao delegation met the directors of APT Company of Hong Kong and discussed the renewal of the two-year lease of APSTAR-V satellite. Over the past two years when Laos was a lessee of APSTAR-V satellite of China it found the service to be effective and so Laos decided to continue to use it for another two years, till 2011.
