Vietnam’s investment in Sekong is over US$300 million

(KPL) Vietnam has invested over 327 million US dollars in Sekong since 2005, a local official said last week.
The Vietnamese investors are interested in agriculture, hydropower, mining and livestock production, said last week Col. Khampheui Bouddavieng, Deputy Secretary General of Sekong Provincial Party, as receiving former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong.
He said that the investment from Vietnam contributed to the robust economic growth of the province, especially the poverty reduction of its ethnic people.
In addition, Vietnam, represented by its provinces Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Binh Dinh, Quang Binh and Dac Lac provide assistance to Sekong province for its schools construction, hospitals and human resource development.
Last year, Sekong attracted foreign investors to invest in eight projects with the total investment of 7.4 million US dollars and enjoyed a 10.9 per cent gross domestic product growth.
