Two Ministries join forces to develop tourism in secondary provinces
BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) -- The Ministry of Transport has announced that it will be working with the Ministry of of Tourism and Sports to develop secondary provinces as tourist attractions by providing an suitable transportation network.
Transport and Communication Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and his deputy Pailin Chuchottaworn on Monday met with Minister of Tourism and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat to formulate guidelines for an inter-ministerial agreement to develop secondary provinces as new tourist attractions.
A consensus was reached where both departments will locate and identify potential provinces for development which will then be allocated a budget for transportation access including roads and possibly even air terminals where appropriate.
They have also agreed to set a committee to look into transportation systems to facilitate increased tourism to the selected areas. The committee will be chaired be respective Permanent Secretaries from each ministry and cooperation guidelines should be finalised within this week. (TNA)
