Human Rights Commission condemns bombing in Yala

BANGKOK, Jan 24 – The National Human Rights Commission condemned those behind the bombing at a market in Yala province that killed three people and injured about 20 others on Jan 22 and demanded the government compensate victims. The bombing that claimed lives and damaged property at Pimolachai market in Yala provincial seat was inhumane and illegal and violated human rights, the commission stated. It urged the government and security agencies to arrest wrongdoers in the case quickly and keep updating the public on progress in the investigation. The commission also called on the government and relevant organisations to compensate victims and the families of the dead and intensify security measures to protect people, especially children, women, the elderly and people with disabilities. Effectiveness in the investigation, compensation and security measures could restore local people’s confidence in the government, the National Human Rights Commission said. (TNA)
