BANGKOK, Jan 24 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the ASEAN-India Summit in New Delhi on Jan 24-26. Deputy government spokesman Lt Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak said important issues to be raised at the summit included new dimensions of cooperation such as cooperation on maritime activities and security. India would propose the “Indo-Pacific” idea to boost trade and investment cooperation between countries in South Asia and those from Asia and the Pacific, he said. According to Lt Gen Werachon, Thailand considers India as an important trade partner as India has its Act East Policy and Thailand has its Look West Policy. Besides, India is a major factor in tourism, cultural and religious activities and has high trade and investment potential while Thailand is India’s gateway to Southeast Asia. In the summit, Thailand expects to benefit from promotions for small and medium-sized enterprises, technological cooperation and more export opportunities for farm products like rubber and rice.
