Government is Citizen's True Partner - Chief Secretary

MELAKA, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The government is no longer a mere regulator or facilitator, but its citizens' true partner to build a greater nation together, said Chief Secretary to the Government Dr Ali Hamsa. He said in achieving the goal to better partner the citizens, bottom up initiative that emphasised more on listening and learning about the people, is a must. “Our National Transformation 2050 or TN50 initiative aims to do just that,” he said in his opening address at the 9th Joint Seminar and 40th Public Service Games For Public Sector Leaders of Malaysia and Singapore 2018 at Bandar Hilir here, Saturday. Also present was Head of Civil Service of Singapore Leo Yip. The three-day event began Friday and is being attended by 41 public officials from Malaysia and 33 from Singapore. Ali said in the same vein, the National Blue Ocean Shift had been pivotal in Malaysia's National Transformation. “Together with government-linked companies, private sector, academia, international NGO's and public at large, we co-created and co-developed strategic national blue ocean initiatives, rallying a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approaches,” he added. He said the use of better evidence for policy formulation and decision making; greater engagement and empowerment of citizens; closer collaboration with private and social sectors; and better management of cross generation talent, were features a government must deliberate on to stay relevant. -- BERNAMA
