Thai foods prove to be world-renowned

CHIANG MAI, Jan 29 (TNA) -- Short Thai cuisine courses in Chiang Mai province are popular among foreign visitors and Thai food is considered as the Thai cultural ambassador. The courses are available at Asia Scenic School on Ratchadamnoen road in downtown Chiang Mai. Students learn how to buy ingredients, prepare dishes and eat the food they cook. Popular dishes that students chose to learn include Phad Thai stirred fried noodles, papaya salad, spicy bean vermicelli salad, fried chicken with cashew nuts, green curry with chicken, Massaman curry and basil stir-fry with meat. A course consisting of four dishes takes about four hours. Duangduan Saengthon, owner of the school, said she enjoyed teaching Thai cuisine and prided herself on the career as it helped promote Thai food internationally. Thai foods were a Thai cultural ambassador, she said. Ms Duangduan also said students came from about 100 countries, some of which she had never heard. She charged a student 1,000 baht and had 30-40 students daily. (TNA)
