Thailand ranked as "Best Countries to Strat a Business"
BANGKOK, January 29 (TNA) - Thailand has been ranked top of the list of "Best Countries to Strat a Business" for the second consecutive year in 2018 and the 8th "Best Countries to Invest In", thanks to the government's measures to reduce costs of business operators and procedures on business registrations.
Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists on Monday that Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is pleased with the rankings by the U.S. News & World Report, posted on its website, [www.usnews.com].
The spokesman stated that Thailand has been ranked top of the list of "Best Countries to Strat a Business" among 80 countries and the 8th "Best Countries to Invest In" among 25 countries.
The spokesman reasoned that the Thai government's measures on cutting official procedures of new business registrations from five to three, lessening the time consuming
considerably from 25.5 days to two days, and costs of business operators from 6,600 baht to 5,800 baht each have mainly attributed to the latest better rankings.
"The rankings show that foreign business operators are confident in running their businesses in Thailand. The prime minister has stressed on his government's hard work to support and provide the facilitations for trade and investment in Thailand in order to, in turn, create more jobs and income, especially for workers and low income earners, as well as to stimulate the national economy", said the spokesman.
According to the spokesman, the latest rankings, conducted by the U.S. News & World Report, are also in line with the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index 2018, in which Thailand has now been ranked at the 26th place, from the 46th place in 2017, or up 20 positions.
The spokesman pointed out more positive aspects of the Thai Kingdom in the eyes of foreigners, including the world's five best place for furthering studies of students, ninth place for travelling by oneself and fourth place for most charming tourist destinations, all of which Thai people should be proud.
