Iranian woman arrested with fake passport

BANGKOK, Feb 1 (TNA) – Immigration police arrested an Iranian woman with a fake British passport at Suvarnabhumi airport before taking a flight to London. Pol Col Cherngron Rimpadee, spokesman of the Immigration Bureau, said Darya Sheida was arrested while holding the fake British passport in the name of a Ms Mary Catherine Newland. She arrived in Thailand’s Phuket province on Jan 24 and went to Suvarnabhumi airport on Jan 31 on the PG270 flight. He quoted the woman as saying that she came from Tehran and bought the fake passport in an Eastern European country at about US$1,300 before arriving in Thailand. Police assumed she had a hidden plan to visit the third-party country with the fake passport. Pol Col Cherngron said immigration police were seriously looking for such travelers and already arrested three people with fake passports in January alone. (TNA)
