Charity bike ride raises Bt28 mln fund for people with disabilities
BANGKOK, Feb 6 (TNA) – The proceeds from the charity bike ride from Bangkok to Chiang Mai reach more than 28 million baht for the construction of a vocational training center for people with disabilities.
The “No One Left Behind” project accepts donations until the end of this year.
The Universal Foundation for Persons with Disabilities has arranged the activity, in which volunteer cyclists together with the blind rode bikes for the 867- km route from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, passing nine provinces for nine days from Jan 28 to Feb 5
They arrived yesterday at the destination at the vocational training center in Chiang Dao district, where they were welcomed by senior officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and agencies concerned.
The campaign is aimed to continue the work of His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej to help people with disabilities to have jobs, so they can depend on themselves and become the power for social development instead of being a burden. (TNA)
