Thailand, UAE join hands to fight human trafficking

BANGKOK, Feb 7 (TNA) -- Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cooperate to fight human trafficking with main strategies to protect victims and help them return to the society. Thai Social Development and Human Security Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanjanarat and Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Jarmin UAE's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation for Political Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in fighting human trafficking between the two governments. The Thai minister said the MoU will enhance cooperation as many Thai people go to work in UAE and settle down there. This group could be at risk for trafficking. The MoU covers comprehensive solutions, victim protection, law implementation, repatriation and effective measures to help them return to the society. The agreement marks the official start of bilateral anti-human trafficking cooperation within the framework. The two countries announce their intention to strengthen ties and develop mechanisms to prevent and crack down human trafficking for the utmost benefit of peoples of the two countries. (TNA)
