Thailand wins snow sculpture championship in Japan

BANGKOK, Feb 9 (TNA) -- A team of three Thai snow sculptors wins a snow sculpture championship with their Thai fighting cock entry at the Sapporo Snow Festival in Hokkaido, Japan. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) stated that the championship came from the 45th International Snow Sculpture set at the Odori Park in Sapporo city on Feb 4-8. The contest was a highlight of Japan’s biggest snow festival that attracted 2 million visitors to the 1.5-square-kilometre event venue. The TAT has sent Thai contestants to the event for 21 times. The Thai team was among 12 teams of contestants. Other teams were Australia, Daejeon Metropolitan City (South Korea), Finland, Hawaii, Indonesia, Macao, Poland, Portland (United States of America), China, Singapore, and USA teams. The Thai team comprised Kusol Boonkorbsongserm from Shangri-La Hotel, Amnuay Srisook from Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel and freelancer Krissana Wongtes. They shaped the fighting cocks that have been a favourite kind of pets of Thai households for a long time. Runners-up were Macao, USA, Finland and Daejeon Metropolitan City. (TNA)
