Thai fruits most popular via China's Tmall retail webssite

NONTHABURI, Feb 9 (TNA) -- Thai fruits become the most popular choice of Chinese consumers via the Tmall Global website and the Department of International Trade Promotion plans more fruit promotions in China. Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat, director-general of the department, said the commercial section of the Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai reported that Thai fresh foods received the highest demand from consumers through Tmall Global that was a site for foreign products under Tmall.com. Tmall Global is an online market for international brands which desire to penetrate in the Chinese market. She elaborated that the most favoured Thai fresh foods were fresh fruits including durian, mangosteen and longan. “Durian is very highly popular in China. The cabinet has just resolved to promote Thailand as the best source of tropical fruits… Durian and mangosteen will be promoted first. The department will do its best for marketing campaigns to increase Chinese demand,” Ms Chantira said. More than 13,000 fresh foods from 150 countries are available on Tmall Global. The sources of popular food products via Tmall Global after Thailand are Australia, Vietnam, Chile, the United States, New Zealand, Argentina, Denmark, Canada and Mexico. Last year Thailand exported fruit products worth 76 billion baht. The value rose by 40% from 2016. (TNA)
