GMS Fabric Expo 2018 in Udon Thani

UDON THANI, Feb 14 (TNA) – The 2nd GMS Fabric Expo 2018 will be held in the northeastern province of Udon Thani from Feb 28 to March 4. The province is famous for varieties of hand woven fabric with unique designs. Udon Thani governor, Watthana Phutthichart said that the event is co-organised by the provincial chamber of commerce and other agencies and will be held at Tung Si Muang Park under the theme “Colorful Fabric Life”, featuring colourful hand woven fabric in the Mekong River Basin. A parade, cultural performances, a textile seminar are among the highlights. The province is aimed at promoting hand woven fabric such as quality silk and cotton Khit –styled fabric at the commercial level as well as local tourism. The governor said fabrics, locally made by hand and traditional loom, reflect people’s way of life and local culture. The Ban Na Kha fabric market in Udon Thani is also the largest hand woven fabric center in the Northeastern region. He said the GMS Fabric Expo is the international fair, portraying cultural connection among six GMS countries. Hand woven fabrics from other Greater Mekong Sub-region countries, including China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam will be sold at the fair. (TNA)
