Qatar Chamber Discusses Cooperation with Canadian Delegation

Doha, February 14 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber on Wednesday held a meeting with a Canadian business delegation headed by former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and former Premier of Quebec Jean Charest. During the meeting, Qatar Chamber was briefed on the business and investment climate in Canada, and the promising opportunities and sectors for the Qatari business in Quebec province in particular. Charest noted that the Canadian government is keen on bolstering the cooperation with the Qatari government, adding that the Canadian business owners are interested in identifying the opportunities available in Qatar and in cooperating with Qatari companies in all fields. He highlighted many investment opportunities in Canada, and called on Qatari businessmen to invest in his country. He praised the renaissance of the Qatari economy in all its components which led to a remarkable growth in a short period and made the per capita GDP in the State of the highest rates globally, saying: "The Canadian government has a strong belief in the State of Qatar and its ability to move forward with its strategies to diversify the economy". Charest referred to the several facilities offered by the Canadian government for foreign investors, especially as it shares with the State of Qatar the same vision for a knowledge-based economy. He noted that his country has signed 15 free trade agreements with 52 countries around the world and has strong cooperation ties with many major economic groups and entities around the world, which Qatari investors can benefit from. For his part, Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al Kuwari said that the State of Qatar has been able to achieve great successes during the siege, including economic diversification and the interest in the Qatari product, which has contributed to a boom in the Qatari industry and increasing the agricultural areas in the country. He welcomed the development of cooperation between the Qatari and Canadian companies in all sectors, expressing readiness to introduce the Canadian economy and the promising investment opportunities in Canada to the business community in Qatar.
