Medical certificates required for driving license application

BANGKOK, Feb 15 (TNA) – Driving license applicants are required to submit medical certificates under the standard of the Medical Council of Thailand, starting next month. Director General of the land Transport Department, Sanit Phromwong said that from March, the medical certificate is required for the driving license application to certify that applicants have no illnesses, which could be potentially hazardous while driving. The medical certificate, recognized by the Medical Council of Thailand is divided into two parts. The first part, applicants must give information about their medical record, underlying diseases, past accidents and major surgeries. The second part of the form will be filled by a qualified doctor to certify that applicants are not disabled and can still perform duties. They must not suffer from mental illnesses or have symptoms of drug addiction, alcoholism, leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, He said most hospitals have used this form of medical certificate, which can be downloaded from the medical council website.
