Three defense volunteers wounded in Yala bombing

YALA, Feb 15 (TNA) – Three defense volunteers of a teacher protection unit were wounded in a roadside bombing in the violence-plagued province of Yala. Seven defense volunteers were patrolling a route in Yala's provincial seat when an unknown number of attackers triggered the bomb. Three officials were injured. Two of them are in critical condition. In another incident in Narathiwat’s Tak Bai district, about ten armed men, wearing military-like uniforms and balaclavas stole a pic-up truck and drove the vehicle to spray bullets at a hospital in the district last night. No one was injured the shooting incident. In a new development today, the police discovered the pick-up used in last night’s attack near a sluice gate. An explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team found M16 rifle ammunition and a one-kg pipe bomb inside the empty vehicle. The police are tracking the gunmen and questioning the owner of the stolen pick- up. (TNA)
