Emergency situation declaration extended for 3 southern border provinces
BANGKOK, Feb 16 (TNA) – The government’s emergency situation committee has extended the emergency situation declaration in Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala provinces for three more months from March 20 to June 19 to facilitate security operations.
Gen Wanlop Rugsanaoh, secretary-general of the National Security Council, said the committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon reached the resolution and the emergency situation status was extended for the 51st time. Mae Lan district of Pattani is exempted from the emergency situation declaration.
The committee would also propose to the cabinet that Betong district of Yala province be excluded from the emergency situation declaration to support the promotion of the district as a sustainable development city, Gen Wanlop said.
He added that the Internal Security Operations Command continued to maximise its security measures for the three southern border provinces. (TNA)
