Yaowarat Road closed for Chinese New Year Festival

BANGKOK, Feb 16 (TNA) – Yaowarat Road has closed to traffic from noon to midnight for the Chinese New Year celebration in Bangkok’s China Town. Pol Maj Gen Dusit Somsak, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 6 said that Yaowarat Road has closed from the Odeon Roundabout to the Ratchawong Intersection from noon to midnight today to give space for food booths and cultural activities. The road is converted into the walking street for visitors to taste an array of delicious food, lining up the street. People are advised to travel to the event by public transportation due to limited parking space. Chinese opera and Lion dance performance are among cultural shows for celebrations. About 1,400 police officers are deployed to provide security and direct traffic. (TNA)
