Amnesty International releases annual human rights report

BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) - Amnesty International on Thursday released its 2017/2018 human rights report, which assesses the state of human rights in 159 countries and territories.
Piyanuch Kotsan, Director of Amnesty International Thailand said this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR70); however, human rights issues in many countries are still worrying.
Last year, hate-filled narratives by powerful persons around the world led to discrimination against marginalised minorities.
For example, President Donald Trump's travel ban targeted people from six Muslim-majority countries to prevent terrorist from entering the US territories.
Piyanuch said the human right situation remains worrisome but there are increasing human rights movements. Last month, American women staged a protest against all forms of sexual harassment. (TNA)
