Nigerian arrested for allegedly trafficking cocaine
BANGKOK, Feb 23 (TNA) -- Police arrested a Nigerian man in Bangkok for allegedly exporting cocaine to other countries by hiding it in electrical appliances.
Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, deputy commissioner of tourist police, said Emmanuel Okwuduili Ilechukwu was arrested at his house on Suksawat 26 road in Bangkok. Police found a certain amount of marijuana in the house.
The deputy commissioner said the Nigerian was wanted by the United States for alleged cocaine trafficking under two arrest warrants. The man was suspected of stuffing plastic parts with cocaine and hiding them in electrical appliances that were later exported to Australia and New Zealand.
Pol Maj Gen Surachet also said a network of coloured people used Thailand as their base to export narcotics to other countries and their head was in Nigeria.
Mr Ilechukwu earlier escaped from police during their hunts at tourist destinations in Bangkok and Pattaya but was finally arrested at the house. (TNA)
