SET to use “C” to warn investors on July 2
BANGKOK, March 7 – The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will introduce the “C” (caution) sign to warn traders of risky listed companies from July 2 onwards.
SET president Kesara Manchusree said the SET management had discussed the idea with relevant parties from September to December last year to better serve investors. That led to the idea of the “C” symbol to warn investors of any listed companies that experienced significant declines in their businesses and financial conditions.
That was aimed to warn investors to be cautious and study information well before investing in particular companies. Criteria for the “C” symbol received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mrs Kesara said.
The stocks with “C” must be traded with cash balance. The SET will announce the “C” imposition one working day in advance and listed companies facing the symbol will present their information and solutions within 15 days after the application of the “C” sign.
Such reports will continue later quarterly. The sign will remain until concerned companies solve their problems completely. (TNA)
