Qatar Airways Reveals 16 Exciting New Destinations on Opening Day of ITB Berlin 2018

Doha, March 07 (QNA) - Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, announced today the airlines aggressive expansion plans and 16 new destinations for 2018 - 2019. At the Qatar Airways press conference, attended by almost 200 members of the international media, Al Baker announced a raft of forthcoming global destinations for the airline in line with its expedited expansion plans, including the announcement that Qatar Airways will be the first Gulf carrier to begin direct service to Luxembourg. Other exciting new destinations to be launched by the airline include London Gatwick, United Kingdom; Cardiff, United Kingdom; Lisbon, Portugal; Tallinn, Estonia; Valletta, Malta; Cebu and Davao, Philippines; Langkawi, Malaysia; Da Nang, Vietnam; Bodrum, Antalya and Hatay, Turkey; Mykonos and Thessaloniki, Greece; and Mlaga, Spain. In addition, services to Warsaw, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Prague and Kyiv will increase to a double daily frequency, while services to Madrid, Barcelona and the Maldives will increase to triple daily. Al Baker added that Qatar Airways continues to be a leader in terms of growth and service enhancement for all travelers and will seek more convenient travel options for all customers by launching more exciting destinations around the world. In a related matter, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive said the company is moving ahead with its expansion plans, despite the blockade imposed on the country, stressing that the blockade will not be an obstacle to the aspiration of the carrier, which will continue to expand raising the flag of Qatar all over the globe. With the presence of HE Qatar Ambassador to Germany, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the brand-new exhibition stand was unveiled at the ceremony designed with a concept of "augmented reality." The new stand features a full 360 digital screen wrapping around the entire stand showcasing the signature Qatar Airways five-star journey, while in-flight entertainment experiences allow guests to place themselves virtually into one of the airlines Business Class seats, complemented, of course, by a full-size display of the airlines patented, award-winning "First in Business Class" concept, Qsuite. The annual ITB Berlin event attracts participants from tourism and travel industry from 180 countries across the five continents, giving more than 160,000 visitors information on new products, services and facilities in the travel and tourism industry.
