MGCIP, GPAFFC To Further Enhance Friendly Ties
KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) – The Malaysia-Guangdong Chamber of Investment Promotion (MGCIP) and the Guangdong People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (GPAFFC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further enhance friendly ties and collaboration between both parties.
The partnership is poised to encourage regular discussions regarding culture, economy, trade, education, tourism, as well as human interaction and actively carry out efforts aligned to these areas.
MGCIP President, Lim Hock San said Malaysia’s long-term and mutually beneficial relations with China was an important catalyst for Malaysia's economic development, led by Prime Minister Najib Razak.
"The Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry conveys its highest appreciation to the Malaysian Prime Minister for his efforts at promoting the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative. Encouraged by Malaysia’s positive example, China intends to continue promoting the initiative to other countries,” he added, in a statement Thursday.
Lim said the collaboration also enabled MGCIP to strengthen communication between Malaysia and Guangdong, providing a stronger platform for the exchange of information between both countries.
In addition, the MoU will serve as a platform that helps Guangdong’s enterprises investing in Malaysia gain access to services by tying up with relevant Malaysian government departments, in line with the OBOR initiative.
MGCIP was established in 2008 and is accredited by the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia.
