Summer storm warning today

BANGKOK, March 9 (TNA) – The Meteorological Department warns of summer storm for another day today in the upper part of the country after many provinces in the Northeast was affected by strong wind and heavy rain yesterday. Thunderstorms, gusty wind and hail are forecast in some areas in the North, the Northeast, the central and eastern regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity. Members of the public are advised to stay away from tall trees, unsecured billboards and buildings and should beware of danger from lightning strikes and crop damage. The high pressure continues to cover the Northeast of Thailand where hot air remains, leading to summer storms. Yesterday, violent storms caused damage in many northeastern provinces. In Sakhon Nakhon, strong wind and torrential rain smashed an area in Phang Khon district. Corrugated metal sheets were blown away and power poles were felled on the road, obstructing traffic. A construction material shop was severely damaged. Its roof was gone and the debris was scattered around the place. However, there is no report of casualties. (TNA)
