Bahrain Traffic Week 2018 launched

Manama, Mar. 11 (BNA): Efforts to reduce deadly accidents in Bahrain have paid off. The rate of traffic-related deaths stood at 3.6 per 100,000 last year – the lowest rate compared with the GCC states and Arab countries.
The updated statistics were revealed marking the Traffic Week 2018 – which got underway today under the patronage of the Interior Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa.
The patron honoured model drivers during the ceremony which was held at the Public Security Officers’ Club, in the presence of senior officers. He paid tribute to the traffic policemen for their crucial role in promoting road safety, implementing awareness campaigns in partnership with the civil society institutions.
He commended the efficient role of Arab traffic affairs expert Abdul-Aziz Bouhajji, hailing his contribution to promoting the traffic and road safety. Director-General of Traffic Brigadier Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al-Khalifa addressed the ceremony, stressing efforts to achieve the best of results, promote road safety and reduce accidents. Traffic Culture Director Lieutenant-Colonel Osama Bahar stressed success in slashing traffic accidents and violations which earned the directorate the Gulf Forum 2017 prize for best Government practices.
