Drug kingpin Xaysana handed down life imprisonment

BANGKOK, March 20 (TNA) - The Criminal Court handed down life imprisonment to Lao drug kingpin Xaysana Keopimpha on charge of smuggling illegal drug into Thailand. Xaysana was taken from the prison to the court on Tuesday to hear the judgment on his charges of colluding with more than two persons in smuggling methamphetamine and having illegal drug in possession with the intention to sell. He confessed to the crime and cooperates with the court, so the court decided to commute his punishment to life imprisonment. He was arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport on Jan 19, 2017 on his arrival from Phuket. (TNA)
